Bananas for You is a whimsical public art installation celebrating Pride Month through color, humor, and collective joy! Created by local artist Lauren Young of Abstruse Art, the oversized fruits come together in a sky-bound rainbow, a visual tribute to LGBTQ+ pride, love, and finding your fruit family.

The fruit are stickered with affirmations like "Born This Way," "Love is for All" and "You Belong" — playful nods to produce labeling that double as powerful reminders of identity and acceptance. Fluffy clouds float among the fruit, inviting viewers to look up, take a breath, and bask in a canopy of queer joy.

This installation is a love letter to the vibrant and joyful LGBTQ+ community — and to anyone who’s ever felt like a fruit floating aimlessly in search of fruity friends!

Lauren is the owner and operator of Abstruse Art. She is a multidisciplinary artist based in Denver, Colorado, known for her playful, large-scale installations that blend nostalgia, humor, and sparkle. Her work often transforms everyday objects into immersive, joy-filled experiences—inviting viewers to see the world through a more colorful, whimsical lens.
